Friday, July 26th

12:00-1:00pm: Tap Class | Brent McBeth | Adv. Beginner

1:00-2:00pm: Tap Class “Swing and Stop Time” | Jenna Roe | Intermediate

     In tap dancing (and music), stop-time is a pattern interrupting, or stopping, the normal time and regular attacks on the first beat of each or every other measure. In this class, we’ll be exploring stop time while focusing in a swing pocket.

3:00-4:00pm: “Musical Theater” | Emily Jones | Beginner-Adv. Beginner

     Musical Theater tap class will consist of a light-hearted combo set to a classic musical theater standard. Class will focus on arms, upper body style and character

     development.

4:00-5:00pm: Tap Class | Brent McBeth |  Adv. Beginner

5:00-6:15pm: Tap Class | Barbara Duffy | Intermediate

6:30pm-7:45pm: Tap Class | Anthony LoCascio | Intermediate-Advanced

    Saturday, July 27th

    9:00-10:00am: Tap Progressions | Emily Jones | Adv. Beginner

         This class will focus on some center and traveling combinations that will move gradually through steps that build upon other steps while executing clean rhythmic phrases.

    10:00-11:15am: Tap Class | Barbara Duffy | Adv. Beginner

    11:30-12:45pm: Tap Class “Paddles & Clave & Groove” | Karen Kleber | Adv. Beginner/Intermediate

         Clave is a rhythmic pattern (and instrument) used in Latin Brazilian music. We will learn a fun combination that plays with groove and the Afro-Cuban rhythm key, Clave.

      ADVANCED Classes

      ADVANCED classes are small, intimately sized classes for more of a one-on-one tap class experience with our guest faculty. Class size is limited.

      1:00-2:00pm: FEARLESS IMPROVISATION | Barbara Duffy | ALL Levels

           If you’re afraid of trying tap improvisation, or not confident when improvising, this is the class for you! Barbara Duffy guides beginners through advanced dancers with

           tools and techniques to help them to start improvising and/or improve their improvising skills in a supportive space. Learn new ideas to approach improv, expand your

           artistry AND have FUN! 

      2:00-3:00pm: Jam & Performance | Barbara Duffy & Faculty | ALL Levels  ($10 Tickets for Observers or Participants)
           Come one, come all!!! Join in the fun as we dance and exchange rhythms with each other in an open jam, hosted by Barbara Duffy. ALL level dancers are encouraged to

           particpate in a supportive setting with the intention of having FUN!! Observers welcome! Bring your lunch!

      10:00-11:15am: Tap Class “Eddie Brown’s B.S. Chorus” | Brent McBeth | Intermediate

           Eddie Brown’s classic BS Chorus (as much of it as possible), set to “Tip Light”. Join us for this rhythmically intricate and fascinatingly exciting tap repertory piece.

      11:30-12:45pm: Tap Class | Anthony LoCascio | Adv. Beginner

      3:45-5:15pm: Tap Class “Leon Collins Repertory” | Barbara Duffy | Intermediate-Advanced

           This is a unique opportunity to learn some Leon Collins’ choreography from Barbara, who studied with the master himself. Barbara feels strongly about passing on this unique and historical material. Leon Collins performed at the Apollo Theater with his wife, Tina Dixon, a jazz singer, and the Jimmy Lunceford Band in the early 1940s. He also worked with the Count Basie Orchestra in Chicago and New York, and with the bands of Erskine Hawkins, Earl “Father” Hines, Glen Gray and Tito Puente. He developed a unique style of rhythm tap that focused on creating melodies with his footwork.
